MakeTent completed an innovation experiment center with a total investment of about $4 Million USD and an area of about 1500 square meters in December 2021. Rainproof, windproof sun protection performance evaluation.
As well as the mechanical performance test of the Tents, all is carried out in this experimental center. We firmly believe that all MakeTent products have undergone strict testing before being presented to users.
The experimental center has 13 core testing areas and 12 auxiliary functional areas, covering almost all key test points of outdoor equipment. From materials to finished products, we check every layer and strictly control with ultra-high quality standards.
We do rigorous testing in each process
Rain and wind test
Place the tent on the central lifting and rotating platform, and accept 360-degree wind and rain simulation tests of different intensities. At the same time, we gradually increase our wind and rain intensity levels to test the ultimate wind and rain resistance of the tent.
The rainfall of the equipment is based on 250mm/h, and the peak value can reach 400mm/h, which is equivalent to 1.6 times the rainfall of a heavy rainstorm. Wind tests are based on Category 7-8, with peaks reaching Category 13 hurricanes.
If our tent can't pass such a challenge, it won't be presented to the user.
Abrasion Test
This is a big test for fabrics. To simulate an outdoor environment. We use standard abrasives and apply a maximum pressure of 12kPa for hours and tens of thousands of repeated rubs on the fabric.
Pilling Test
The test uses the Martindale flat grinding method for anti-pilling testing of various fabrics. Under certain pressure, the samples are rubbed continuously for up to 7000 times to help our users verify the anti-pilling performance when actually using the product.
Tearing Test
Simulating the scene where the actual tent fabric is frequently folded and opened outdoors, our fabric tensile testing machine tests the tear strength that the fabric can withstand, which meets and is several times better than the national mandatory requirements of our different product categories.
Only high-quality and reliable products are worthy of being provided to users.
Extreme Stress Test
Simulate the use scenarios of inflatable outdoor equipment for repeated inflation and deflation and extreme states. Under the generally rated pressure of 3.8kPa, our inflatable pads and tent inflatable columns are repeatedly inflated and deflated hundreds of times and inflated up to 200kPa until the product bulges or even bursts.
So as to control the normal service life of the product, It is guaranteed that the ultimate pressure of the product will reach 2~3 times the use value.
Inflatable pad test area/impact test
The impact weights are used to impact the different points of our inflatable pads multiple times in a free fall to test whether they will appear bulging, bursting, damaged, or other phenomena.
Inflatable pad test area/rolling test
Roll a roller weighing 140 kg on the Inflatable pad thousands of times to simulate the rolling action of a person on the inflatable pad to test whether there will be bulging and other phenomena.
Combustion Test Area
Test the flame retardant effect of outdoor fabrics under the flame. Confirm whether the fabric has certain flame retardant properties, test the length of its carbonization and whether the fabric will burn after leaving the flame.
Light aging test
To simulate the outdoor strong ultraviolet irradiation environment, put the cloth into the super argon lamp or strong ultraviolet equipment to accelerate the aging of the cloth or structural parts. Through the characterization of mechanical properties and determination of color fastness, the performance of the product after being used outdoors for a long time is simulated.
Hydrostatic pressure test
Tests the product's ability to resist penetration by water pressure. One side of the sample is subjected to continuously rising water pressure until three points of water seepage appear on the other side, so as to evaluate the waterproof performance of the sample. Our products withstand the test of at least 2000mmH20 (20kPa) hydrostatic pressure.
